How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication for Avast

To enhance the security of your Avast account, enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a must. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up 2FA using the Authenticator App.

STEP 01

Download and Install Authenticator App

For iOS: Visit the App Store and search for "Authenticator App" Download and install the app.

For Android: Head to the Google Play Store, search for "Authenticator App" and install it.

STEP 02

Log in to your Avast account

Sign in to your Avast Account and select the Account settings tile.

Locate 2FA settings

Under Security, click Turn on 2-step verification.

STEP 04

Set up Multi-Factor Authentication

Enter your Avast Account password and click Continue. It will show the QR Code containing the secret key you need to scan with the Authenticator App. Keep this page open as you reach for your device.

STEP 05

Capture QR Code

Open the Authenticator App, tap the plus (+) button, and hold your device up to the computer screen to scan the QR Code.
You can also manually enter the 2FA key into your authenticator app.

STEP 06

Verify 2FA Code

After successfully scanning the QR Code, the Authenticator App will automatically choose the Avast logo and autofill the account name and secret key. Click Save when ready.

STEP 07

Add 2-factor authentication code

Once your Avast account has been successfully added to the Authenticator App, enter the 6-digit code on the Avast website and click TURN ON.

STEP 08

You’re all set

Two-factor authentication is now enabled. Now your Avast is protected with an extra layer of security, ensuring no one, even knowing your password, can access it.
Press “Close”, and that’s all.
